Frequently asked questions

Is painting the pony safe?

That is our first top focus! Yes! The pony’s comfort and well-being are always our top priority. We use non-toxic, washable paint that is applied lightly to the pony’s hair coat (not the skin). We also performed a patch test beforehand to ensure there was no skin reaction and discussed this with a vet before we started.

What if someone is concerned about animal welfare?

We take animal welfare seriously. Our program is built around kindness, respect, and proper care, and we’re happy to answer questions about how we care for our animals. In fact, to Mrs. Emily they’re not animals at all, they are her babies and are spoiled and VERY well loved!

Is she comfortable during the event?

Our pony is carefully handled and monitored throughout the event. A trained handler is always present, and the pony can take breaks whenever needed. If the pony shows signs of discomfort or stress, the activity stops.

What happens to the paint afterwards?

The paint fades naturally or washes out during normal grooming and bathing. It does not permanently color or damage the pony’s coat.

What ages are Painting Pony Kids Parties best for?

Our pony parties are designed for children ages 5 and up. This helps ensure kids are able to follow safety instructions, participate in the activities, and have the best experience interacting with the ponies.

Are pony painting parties just for kids?

Absolutely not! Why should kids have all the fun?! Our pony experiences are for all ages 5 and up, and we tailor each experience to the age group to maximize the fun. For bachelorette parties, a family outing or a group of friends visiting the area, we can help make your day fun, memorable, and a little unique. Check out our Home Page under Painting Pony Lounge for more info.

Do all guests need a waver, even if I’m here to watch?

Yes. For safety and insurance purposes, everyone on the property must have a signed waiver on file, even if they are only observing and not directly participating in activities. If a guest is under 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign the waiver on their behalf before entering the property.

Requiring waivers for all guests helps ensure that everyone understands the safety guidelines around being near horses and allows us to maintain a safe environment for visitors, staff, and animals.

Can siblings participate in a child’s party, even if they weren’t in the original party count?

For safety and planning purposes, all children participating in activities must be included in the party count. If you have additional children who would like to join, please let us know ahead of time so we can plan accordingly.

Can kids ride the pony?

Elsa, our painting pony coworker, is a mini horse, and she’s so tiny she can safely carry only 30 lbs—basically a small backpack! To keep her happy and healthy, children paint and interact with her instead of riding. She loves being pampered and decorated, and this way she avoids any heavy lifting.

Are the ponies safe for kids?

Absolutely! Elsa has experience at birthday parties, and Charlie was a therapy mini pony for a child with special needs. Both are gentle, calm, and love spending time with children.

Can parents participate in the kid parties?

Yes! Parents are welcome to watch, help with activities, and take photos. We ask that parents stay on the property and continue to supervise their children while our staff leads the pony activities.

What is the Painting Pony Lounge?

The Painting Pony Lounge is The Painting Pony... for adults! We cater women’s events, birthdays, bachelorette parties, or any special celebration, the Pony Lounge offers a beautifully styled, relaxed atmosphere where you can sip champagne, unwind with friends, and enjoy a creative, elevated painting experience. Mingle, savor light bites, and explore our boutique collection while soaking in a warm, inviting space designed to make every moment memorable.

How many guests can attend a Painting Pony Lounge Event?

Our space is designed to comfortably accommodate small to medium-sized groups. For exact capacity, please contact us — we love helping you plan the perfect setup.

Does my group have to paint the pony?

Not at all! Painting is optional — your group can choose to paint, watch, or just enjoy the atmosphere, mingle, sip drinks, and soak in the experience.

What should participants wear?

Please bring closed-toed shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting messy. Pony paint washes out, but tie-dye does dye, and some activities may get a little sweaty depending on the day.

Can kids run, be loud and play around the ponies?

For safety, we ask that children walk and stay calm around the ponies while they are at the painting station. Sudden running or loud movements can startle the animals.

Children can run and play in designated areas when we let the ponies free in their field, but running is not allowed near the painting station. During painting, we guide kids on how to interact calmly and respectfully so the experience stays safe and enjoyable for everyone — especially the pony.

Do you do the set up and décor?

Yes! We provide pony-themed décor for the party setup. If you’re interested in something more specific, ask us about our themed décor options — we’re happy to help make your child’s party extra special.

.

What happens if it rains?

We will work with you to reschedule if needed due to weather. The safety and comfort of the kids and animals always comes first.

Can the paint stain clothes or skin?

The paint is washable and non-toxic, but it may leave temporary marks on clothing or skin. We recommend wearing clothes that can get a little messy or using protective smocks we provide.

Are my pets allowed at the parties?

For safety and to reduce stress on the pony, outside pets are not allowed on the property.
